The J/24 Canadians were held July 19-21, 2019 at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Colin Mann and his RC team were able to bang off 9 great races in moderate breeze in the outer approaches of the Halifax Harbour, with a 45 minute sail to the race course. Nine boats competed including Carter White and his team You Regatta from Portland,Maine. RNSYS had a great social experience off the water with complimentary Moosehead beer and free dinner for competitors on both Friday and Saturday evenings. Saturday night was the Hawaiian shirt pool party which all competitors thought was wonderful.
Day 1 saw light to moderate breeze with Day two increasing to 8-12 knots. Day 3 saw a slight increase in breeze to 10-14 knots but was coupled with heavy fog at times.
Evan Petley-Jones from the RNSYS handedly walked away 16 points to earn a well-deserved first place. Ted Murphy and Carter White battled it out for second and third, tying with 25 points each. In the end Ted won the tie-breaker. Peter Wickwire followed in fourth with 36 points.
Many thanks to Evan, who organized the event.
